Jesus said, “You will be My witnesses...to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
Our risen Savior remained with His disciples for 40 days following His resurrection. Then, prior to His ascension He gave His mission mandate that the world might not perish.
That the world might not perish: that’s why the Father sent the Son. When we think of our guilt, aren’t we relieved that God didn’t destroy the world because of sin? But are people in other nations, speaking other languages, also relieved?
That the world might not perish: that’s why the Son became man and saved us. Are we able to comprehend this mystery? He took our place and justice is served. And Jesus took the place of every child ever born, no matter their native land, no matter their native tongue.
That the world might not perish: that’s why the Spirit came on Pentecost, to bring this message to all nations. From the Acts of the Apostles and from church history we learn how zealous and faithful the apostles were in this great mission, in spite of the global challenge ("all nations"), in spite of constant hardships.
Because of your contributions, since 1992—in Eastern Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and beyond—LHF fulfills Christ’s mission mandate by translating and distributing genuine Lutheran literature. Through these books the nations learn the saving promises of God’s Word and come to faith. Now, in their own languages, they are kept in faith through the proclamation of this saving grace.
I am grateful that your contributions assist LHF in fulfilling God’s mission, and I urge your continuing support—that the world might not perish.
