Congolese immigrants need Lutheran education books

Categories: Book of Concord, Book Requests, Immigrant, Swahili

Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

My name is Rev. William Weiss, and I am pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Moines, IA. A couple of years ago you helped us by sending materials in the Vietnamese language.

Well, our God has chosen to send another group of immigrants to us, and I am looking at a need for materials. They are Congolese, and would normally speak French. However, they were refugees in Tanzania for twenty years, and need materials in Swahili (it’s the only language the younger ones have ever spoken).

I have just begun an adult catechism class with the leader of the group, and things are going well. He also speaks French, and I have a pastor in my circuit helping in that regard. Therefore, if I could get a copy of the Book of Concord, a hymnal, and “What about being Lutheran” in Swahili, that would be great. If things progress, I can envision the need for more materials.

In service to the King,

Rev. William Weiss
