Thousands of children around the world want their own books to read about Jesus, who they hear about at church. Their parents had nothing to read to them, because there was nothing translated into their own language– until now. Thanks to the National LWML and LHF, 20,000 copies of books like God’s Word for You, A Child’s Garden of Bible Stories and Bible Stories in Pictures will be translated, printed and distributed around the world.

Telling the Next Generation (2013)

After years of growth, the Lutheran church in Southeast Asia is looking for resources to help raise their children in the faith. Because of the generosity of the National LWML, LHF translated, printed, and distributed Luther’s Small Catechism and A Child’s Garden of Bible Stories to countries like Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Books for African Pastors and Immigrants (2020)

With the help of the LWML Atlantic District, LHF printed and distributed 3,000 copies of The Lutheran Difference: Law and Gospel in Dinka for use by pastors in Africa and Sudanese immigrants here in the United States. It will also support the publication of the “What About” series into Maasai, another language of Eastern Africa.

Thanks to the help of the LWML Central Illinois District, LHF is able to distribute books like the Book of Concord, Selected Writings of Luther, Christian Dogmatics, and God’s No and God’s Yes to Russians in their native tongue.

Lutheranism 101 for Latvia (2014)

After years of oppression by Soviet leadership, Latvia’s Lutheran population has begun to rebuild. This work has been aided by the publication and distribution of Lutheranism 101, a book that explains the basics of Lutheranism off of the Small Catechism. Thanks to LHF and the LWML Central Illinois district, the church is able to regrow.

Mon Ami Jesus Sharing Jesus in Haiti and West Africa (2013)

Due to the help of the LWML Central Illinois District, LHF translated and published 2,000 copies each of A Child’s Garden of Bible Stories and Luther’s Small Catechism into French for use in more than fifty countries in West Africa, Haiti, and Canada.

In Madagascar, Lutheran materials are in high demand as books are often not even available. Pastors have very few books to learn from while in Seminary. With the LWML Central Illinois District’s help, LHF translated and published 2,000 copies of The Augsburg Confession and its Apology Study Guide in Malagasy.

Despite the spread of Islam in Ghana, the Lutheran church continues to grow and thrive. To help the young Lutheran families there, LHF translated and published A Child’s Garden of Bible Stories into their native language of Kusaal with the help of the LWML Central Illinois District.

As the Holy Spirit leads to the growth of the church in Sudan, pastors become increasingly sought after. With the help of the LWML Nebraska North District and the Lutheran Heritage Foundation, Sudanese men are able to attend seminary and become pastors to lead these new Lutherans in the faith.

Stronger Pastors for Southeast Asia with the Book of Concord (2016)

In Southeast Asia, where religions focused on earning forgiveness like Islam and Buddhism are highly popular, Christian ideas like grace by faith seem impossible to understand. The Lutheran church there needs the Book of Concord for the instruction of pastors in order to prepare them for the ministry. Thanks to LHF and the LWML South Dakota District, this book is now available to them.
